this poem was written by my” in the middle” boy. the 13 year old boy who still runs around with a super hero cape on, fighting invisible ninjas with his nerf sword. the boy who lives for all things sugar and junkified. And then wham out of his backpack falls this….. sometimes you just know that you have done something right.
Where I’m From
I am from the rocky terrains of Scotland,
from haggis and bagpipes,
I am from the house with a silver roof, big and white,
sleepy Saturday mornings.
I am from the plum tree, sunflower and pollen,
the huckleberry bush, apple tree and small round blue berries.
I am from Friday night movies and the thick haired.
From Scott and Kim
I am from the people who chew their nails and eat messy.
From if you don’t have anything nice to say, don’t say it at all
and treat people the way you want to be treated.
I am from believing in evolution
I am from the Bruces,
from haggis and whiskey,
from Robert the Bruce fighting for Scotland.
The man who escaped Germany in WW1 to Canada,
the shelves in the kitchen retelling the moments of worth to the family.
An old soul in the body of a 13 year old boy!!!!
these kids never cease to amaze me…. :0)
