tis the season to eat, drink wine and be helpful

Who doesn’t like to eat delish’ food and drink wine? raise your hand…..nobody….that’s what I thought. Get this, you can also help raise money for BC Children’s Hospital by supporting this great cause. In very close proximity to my home sits a beautiful farm/vineyard. I have been known to ride my horse up there and leave on four legs with an open bottle of their beautiful wine and a full belly of the lovely cheeses, breads and preserves they stock in the farm gate shop produced by local artisans. That’s not drinking and driving is it? It’s drinking and riding. Ha! In any case lets get back to the point. Vista d’ Oro is a family run vineyard on 8th Avenue in Langley B.C. straight across from the lovely Campbell Valley Park. This year they are holding a fundraiser. Please read their email below. It is for a great cause. They are lovely people and you get to help sick kids at Christmas. What’s better than that? If you are a local lower mainlander I strongly urge you to check it out. You too could leave with a beautiful bottle(s) of wine and a full belly. Just  please don’t drink and drive!

Cookie TinIt’s that time of year again… Santa’s baker elves are busy baking and we hope you’ll join us for our7th annual Cookies for Kids. The cookie drive is under way and we are endeavouring to add to previous years’ total contributions of over $55,000 to the BC Children’s Hospital!! That’s a lot of cookies!!Our friends in the food industry have, yet again, donated yummy cookies & delicious baking to fill our Cookie Tins. This years red holiday tins, which are also donated, will hold a decadent array of goodies from Bishop’s Restaurant, Chambar Restaurant, Culinary Capers, Northwest Culinary Academy of Vancouver, forage Restaurant, Krause Berry Farms, Lesley Stowe Fine Foods, Pacific Institute Culinary of Arts, Terra Breads, The Original Cakerie, The Pink Spatula, Toast of the Town Catering and more… alongside a jar of Vista D’oro Farms artisanal preserves.

The Cookie Tins are sold for a minimum $50 donation, 100% of which will go directly to B.C. Children’s Hospital. The Cookie Tins will be ready for pickup at our farmgate shop , beginning December 6th. We are taking pre-orders

  1. This is a lovely shout-out. Good for you. Best of luck and I hope this is a bountiful fund raising event for BC Children’s Hospital. I do donate to the Alberta Children’s Hospital since this is where I’ve lived for over 25 years but heck! I grew up in Langley so I should mail a donation to them now that you’ve reminded me 🙂 Happy Holidays!
