a little advice…

gray….If you have ever lived for a significant amount of time in BC on the West Coast you will get what I am about to say before I say it….yup….THE DREADED GREY!! It can sink you like an anchor from say November thru Feb. Just eye ~ spying  a wee’ tip of a crocus or the unfurl of an apple blossom lets hope slide in to save the day.

Well, today it seems like it will never stop raining…What to do I ask myself? Crawl back in to bed and nest up with a cozy book and perhaps snooze the day away? Sounds nice hey? The sad part is you can’t do that everyday… trust me. It rains here a lot!

As I sit here staring into the screen, searching for inspiration, deciding to give into wicked Winter or not, I ran across this quote….

” Pour yourself a drink, put on some lipstick, and pull yourself together” …. YES!! Thank you Liz Taylor. It is only 10:30 am here, so I won’t pour myself a “real” drink (yet) but I will do something else.

I am going to pull my Sorrels on, grab my great hairy beast of a dog and my camera and head down to the great Pacific Ocean, search for beach treasures in the pissing rain, let my dog run and swim free and then treat myself to a lovely pub lunch complete with a frosty pint or two! YES…. Carpe Diem….Seize the Day!

All of a sudden my day is starting to look like this!!! TAKE THAT you old witch WINTER!! YOU are going DOWN!!!!

Happy Friday y’all!!

  1. What a beautiful thought for a grey day- “Just eye ~ spying a wee’ tip of a crocus or the unfurl of an apple blossom lets hope slide in to save the day.” Love it. 🙂

  2. Priceless advice from Liz Taylor. I work form home and get the question all the time, “Do you work in your PJs?” Heavens no. How could I take myself seriously? I put on makeup, do my hair, wear clothes I like and shoes. I do wear lipstick or lipgloss or tinted lip balm. Then I feel like I can conquer the world.

  3. I do get where you’re coming from… I just came back to cold, wintery Sweden after one week holiday in warm Spain. Before the holiday I thought that the warmth I get there will make me survive those last weeks of winter in the north. Now that I’m back I realize that it’s the other way round – it just made me wanting sun and warmth more and more… 😉

    • Spain sounds so lovely and warm… now I want to go there too!! LOL!! When does Spring arrive in Sweden?
I have been to Stockholm many years ago, I believe it was July and I remember wearing a heavy sweater to keep warm… it was so beautiful but chilly/…..

      • Spring in Sweden – that’s a good question! I remember one year where we had plus 30 °C on May 1st. But last Summer there were only two or three days with more than 25 °C … so seasons are a bit hard to talk about in Sweden 😉

It of course depends a lot on where you live – north or south, inner country or coast and so on. Where I live (Gothenburg on the West Coast) I’d say Spring arrives in the mid/end of March. But I can very well imagine Stockholm with a warm sweater in July!! The good thing is that after Christmas it gets brighter and brighter every day. So even if the temperatures are still below zero now the sun stays visible quite long already 🙂

      • I always forget that not everywhere has four seasons… where I live we definitely have the four. Spring has to be my fave as it goes from gloomy grey to colourful blossom time. It still rains alot but you can see the end of the winter. It must be so beautiful in Sweden in winter as cold temperatures with bright skies make for lovely days~
