van city alley

I love a good mosey. A meander, a little dawdle, perhaps a swerve or a tootle. I love to roam around and ramble, especially with my camera. There is so much to see, if you can only slow it down, which  is easier said than done when you wander with one of my little chickens.  After stopping to “smell the roses” one too many times she got all up in my grill and said ” HURRY UP!! WHAT are you talking about? THERE ARE NO ROSES HERE!” There are only homeless weird people and it is CREEPY!”In her defence, the wildlife can be a lot scary here. Maybe I should have warned her… oops.
vancity7 copy She, my youngest chicken, is only interested in only one thing. Getting what she came for, then getting the heck out. I am talking clothes here. It is all about the ‘style’ and apparently it is all about her…:0) Apparently we have some work to do in the ’empathy for others’ department.  You gotta have” good style” said the 12 year old to me like I was just hatched from an egg yesterday. That being said ,her father and I stared at this dressing room door for a good while yesterday, long enough for me to start photographing it.Yup, she would have been mortified. vancity11 copy So now, bags in hand, back out on Granville Street and I am  tickled pink and almost giddy. The rain has stopped falling and there are picture ops everywhere…. except I don’t get to take them…. we gotta GO and NOW!! lol…. This street, out of all the streets in the city, is one of the most colourful and  animated. Beggars, buskers, punkers, vagrants, voguers, you name it, it is here. Larger than life. Culture clashing and glamourously grungy she croons like an ancient beauty queen of songs of days gone by. At  very least Ms. Granville is highly entertaining.vancity9 copy~here are a few quick snaps I got as were promptly hustled back to the car…..the Gorg-O-Mish??….. an after hours club….who knew….
vancity8 copy A refuelling pit stop…….The Avenue Grill in Kerrisdale. Pretty sweet sign I’d say. The food? Meh…. maybe we just ordered the wrong thing…It was worth it for the diner experience anyway.vancity5 copy

The daily specials…..vancity4 copy

and what tops off the perfect Sunday afternoon in the city? A nice frosty pint…ahhhh…
