just plain weird

” Have you seen the Yellow Brick Road?”screeched the golden spray painted face through the  glass. ” I can’t seem to find the Yellow Brick Road!!” he once again wailed quizzically at the four of us through the thin yet safe margin of the window. Sheesh.

I wanted to tell him umm no….. BUT,  if you are keen,I do know where you can find a plastic horse with a sawed off nose chained to a newspaper box. Maybe it can help you. Looks like the evil flying monkeys of Oz had a tumble with the both of them if you ask me.

And as fast as he appeared he was off. Maybe he spotted a glimmer of yellow or brick or perhaps just road. Dunno, but it was random weirdness. Kind of made my day and I sort of got a half decent shot of him. Please don’t get me wrong, I do have empathy for the guy, perhaps he suffers from mental illness, drug addiction or maybe he was yanking our chain and just having a little fun with us. So no judgement here. It was however, some random weird encounter I tell you.

Maybe this mode of transport is going there or just came back. Round trip. Trip the light fantastic.

It used to be a hearse. It is now a pretty smokin’ hot rod. Very cool and very, very, awesome weird. The man driving it? Well let’s just say he looked like he has been resurrected from a coffin. He was white as a ghost with long silvers for hair. Yes, some may say that is weird, we thought it was pretty special. He was very kind to put up with us. So thank you hearse man.

What is really weird though? Is the guys posing by the car while the man inside just wants to drive away. I am taking pictures of the car and my friend is taking pictures of the men posing by the car. Can you imagine what the ghost man inside is thinking?

This is freaking WEIRD! I think it is hilarious!weird7

Having said all that, I do embrace the weird. It keeps things interesting and fresh. Keeps the world from being ‘greige’. Weird is a rainbow of the senses. Keeps people from being ‘sheep’ and conformists.  If I had a penny for every time someone coined me “weird” I would be rich. I tell you, if you said I was normal, that would be big insult in my book.Normal, schnormal. Blah…ughh.

Define weird. ~ Of a strikingly odd or unusual character; strange.

Define normal ~ conforming to the standard or the common type; usual; not abnormal.

In other words….boring.

Which would you rather be? Weird? Normal? A pleasant combination of both?

  1. I want to be original and authentically my own person. If that makes me stand out as strange or different to someone, I’m finally at the point in my life where that’s okay with me. I love your pictures!

  2. Where is the yellow brick road, a hearse of different colors – I like. Using ‘normal’ to describe people, well it just should not be done.. even if unique up on them don’t call them normal. Normal should only be used to describe situations… like in SNAFU, there one can properly use normal.

  3. Thank you for your comment John. I do agree with you, as labelling people should not be done. My point was there really is no ‘normal’. Who’s to say what that is. We are who we are. I just find people are very quick to judge and put a name tag on people who don’t fit into societies mold. Happy Friday

  4. I think weird is a word people use when they don’t understand somebody or something. And as for normal, we might think people are normal but behind closed doors they might be weird. Thanks for stopping by following and liking my posts. It is weird that you looked at so many of my posts. People usually look at one or two or MAYBE three posts but never 11 posts. Thank you many times over for that. Your photo’s are awesome, sometimes weird though.
