~ For this weeks challenge I chose a photograph that I just randomly snapped johnny~ on~ the~ spot just this past weekend . After downloading the images to my laptop, to my sadness I realized I hadn’t captured the black cat as in focus as I would have liked. Boo-hiss. It’s not like you can say” hey kitty, can you just run across the path for me one more time? Please? I need to get you in focus….” YUP> NO….not happening… oh but I really would have loved to have those amber eyes in focus… in the end though it is what it is…..
Flip side? I have sort of warmed up to the image.
I like the mauzy, obscure essence of how it is all out of focus. I like that the curving path is a gentle reminder of a fresh new season rounding the corner.
The black cats’ posture is foretelling, as are the shades of burnt caramel, black and saddle tans . It brings to mind how Fall is creeping in from the sidelines hazy~ like and foggy without us even really realizing it yet. I know, it’s a ball buster that summer is ending but it really is how you ‘think’ about it that counts.
Think about it. We get cozy sweater weather. We get crunchy autumn leaves under foot and cool crisp blue sky days. Sweet and juicy apples that don’t taste like the grocers walk in fridge and round orange pumpkins to decorate our doorsteps.
We get back a proper routine. We get our second January, meaning another chance at a clean slate. Start up a new fitness program, maybe a fresh start at cleaner eating, whatever it is, I am going to jump at the chance. I personally will try to balance my awesome undomestic servitude life and purge the house of unloveables. You know, outgrown clothes, books that have been read, the piles of magazines beside chairs and beds. I pledge to bake for the kids, get out once a day to stretch my old bones and get my heart beating faster and happier.
It is good. It is all coming in to focus now. Bring it!
Perfect focus doesn’t always make a great picture. Mood created by lighting, color, and composition are important too and well captured here. I like it!
Thanks Jolene.. 🙂 coming from you that is a nice compliment!
I agree. Sometimes a great picture is great because it isn’t perfectly in focus. Sometimes when a picture is striking, it’s just striking, “rules” of photography be darned!
I like the way you think! 🙂 cheers..
beauty shots!!! um don’t get me wrong I love fall and all but not yet! I still want to strut around in my bikini drinking beer in the hot sun!
you can rock that hot orange number around in Ugg boots with your green bottles! xo
yep watch for me on the school rounds, thxzooooooom
<3………
What a wonderful post, and how well you intertwine the images and text…true, Fall is a fresh start. And the focus DID turn out to be interesting on the cat photo – so often those random shots work in a way we don’t expect, right?
Why thank you kindly blue brightly. I appreciate You taking the time to visit and comment. 🙂
I suppose it is the intention and thought behind a shot which takes precedence over the technical aspects.
So what was you r thought as you focused on the kitten?
Shakti
Yes, I very much agree with you. It was a random moment so I did n’t really have an intention rather a feeling. thank you Shakti!
Love the photo, K, but I love the explanation more. Halloween is right around the corner, and this little guy seems to sense it. {{{hugs}}} Kozo
Kozo , always nice to hear from you! Yes, Halloween is just around the corner. is it just me or does time go faster now ? ((( happy hugs)))
Ah.. your poetic heart touches mine every time. I too (quickly.. immediately!?) warmed to this shot, for the slightly soft edges and the pose of that gorgeous black cat call of autumn, and halloween, and the curving path leading us into the coming season with the freshness of frost and the crunchiness of crisp leaves underfoot. There are things I adore about every Canadian season, and just today (before coming here to catch up at your beloved blog) I was thinking about all that I love about Fall. Thank you for this lovely post, which to me certainly celebrates what is coming on that curving path.
Love to you, dear heart! xo Gina
